Moving a King’s Heart

Ezra 1:1-2 – Now in the first year of Cyrus King of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

How amazing and awesome in that? We see here that God used a pagan king to do the will of the true KING! God has a plan in place and He can anyone He desires to accomplish His will. That is amazing!

God is so powerful that He moved the heart of a pagan king to build the temple again in Jerusalem! Not only that but this king also let those who wanted to go and build free to do so and he gave them money and resources to build this temple. WOW! God is amazing! This just shows us that God is always in control and that He is sovereign, meaning God’s will, gets accomplished.

Now, if God could move a king’s heart back in the Old Testament can He do so now? The answer is absolutely. Nothing is impossible with God.  Today more than ever we need the hearts of our leaders to be moved by God. Our leaders today have fallen into a deep pit of sin and despair. They have left common sense and followed the almighty dollar. They have turned evil into good and good into evil! The leaders of today have left God in the dust and have followed after their own lustful desires. But, God can still move their hearts!

It is going to take us as believers coming together and taking a stand. We must stand in the gap for our leaders. We must lift their names up in prayer on a daily basis, we must pray for their hearts to changed by God, we must pray for God to intervene, we must lay our leaders at the feet of God’s throne. We must always confess the sins of our nation! Our nation is heading down a wrong path and we must repent! We as believers need to come clean and confess our sin as well as the sin of our nation! Ask God to cleanse our nation from: hate, pride, bigotry, selfishness, arrogance, tolerance, homosexuality, lust, and spiritual blindness. Let’s ask God to move a king’s heart! There is still hope because God is still in control!
