I Peter 1:16 – Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I AM holy.
What a challenge for us as believers! We are to be holy as our GOD is HOLY! Is this even possible? Can a person be holy? The answer is yes, we can be holy, but not by ourselves. We need help and that help comes from Jesus. For a person to be holy they need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the HOLY ONE, He is the one who came to earth and lived a perfect life. He was sinless! What an awesome Savior, He came and paid our sin debt because of His love for us.
When we have Jesus as our personal Savior we can strive to be holy. Being holy does not mean we are perfect because we will still sin everyday. Holiness means that we strive to live a life that pleases God in every possible way. We can do that by being obedient to His word, filling our minds with Godly thoughts, using our lips to uplift and encourage, and putting away the former life that we used to live. Holiness is a process of us striving to be more like Jesus every day. How about it, will you try to be more like Jesus today?
