No Room!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas weekend! With the chaos of the weekend over I would like to look back and reflect on a special verse in the Christmas story.

Luke 2:7 – And she (Mary) brought forth her firstborn son (Jesus), and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

The verse starts out great, declaring to us that the Messiah, the Promised One had been born. Emmauel has arrived! What a glorious day for all mankind, the Savior of the world had arrived! But, we then come to the final part of the verse, there was no room for them in the inn.

No room! No room! What about compassion? What about generosity? What about a helping hand? Mary was pregnant with child and yet no one was willing to give up their room for her.  There was no room for the Son of God. No room for the Messiah, the Promised One. No room at all!

What about today? Do we make room for Jesus today? I dare say most of us don’t make room for Jesus. We have busy lives, busy schedules, appointments to keep, goals to accomplish, children to raise, houses to clean, ambitions to follow! Who has room for any more? It’s time to slow down and make room for the Savior, it’s time to give up something and find a place for Jesus. What does it profit if a person can gain the whole world and lose their soul? No profit at all, just eternal lose. Today would be a great day to make room for Jesus. It doesn’t matter if you are a believer or unbeliever we all need to make room for Jesus.
